KONI HAWAIIAN INGREDIENTS

The companies from which we purchase our unrefined shea butter (Fair Trade), organic virgin coconut oil and organic cornstarch are certified USDA organic. The ingredients in our products are 100% pure and natural.

Brief Information about the ingredients...
Coconut Oil
The organic virgin coconut oil used in Koni Hawaiian products are Non-GMO, USDA Certified Organic. NO additives and NO preservatives and is 100% natural virgin coconut made from certified organic coconuts grown without pesticides or fertilizers.

Virgin coconut oil, rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E, contains capric acid, caprylic acid, and lauric acid. These three fatty acids have strong disinfectant, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial and anti microbial properties. It protects skin from microbial infections because it is rich in proteins that help keep skin healthy and rejuvenated. It has been used traditionally for centuries by Pacific Islanders for medicinal purposes internally and externally. Coconut oil is most effective on scars, and bruises as it speeds up the healing process by repairing damaged tissues. Coconut oil also helps in treating various skin problems including psoriasis, dermatitis, and eczema.

Unrefined Shea Butter
Our Shea butter comes from Togo, Africa. And is produced from the Karite Shea tree which is only found in the tropics of Africa. The nuts from the Shea tree are crushed and processed, yielding a vegetable fat; shea butter. This process is mostly done by the women of Africa. Unrefined shea butter has a wide range of benefits because it's naturally rich in proteins, essential vitamins (A, E and F), and fatty acids (fatty acids are needed for normal growth and behavior and help with healthy cell membranes). It is more expensive than refined shea butter because organic products take more time to process. Just a note not all shea butters are the same. There is refined and unrefined. Refined, not so good - has been stripped of most of it's nutrients through a chemical process. Unrefined - good, it's in the most natural form.

Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is used in the Koni Hawaiian oils. Jojoba oil rich in vitamin E, B complex is used for treating sores, cuts, bruises and burns and helps to heal scars and promotes healing of the skin. It has antimicrobial properties, which discourages the growth of some bacterial and fungal microbes that attack the skin. The chemical composition of jojoba closely resembles that of the skin’s natural sebum, so it is easily absorbed and rarely causes allergic reactions, even in the most sensitive individuals.

Organic Cornstarch
Our cornstarch is 100% pure cornstarch made from certified non-genetically modified corn.

ALLERGEN: NUT / LATEX
Allergies vary with individuals and may affect people with varying degrees. Allergies may develop mildly at first, with increasing severity over time, or they may appear suddenly. It is important to remember, when using natural body products, that some people may have allergies to even natural ingredients. Oils derived from nuts, for example, are found in many natural skincare products. There have been no medical reports of nut reactions to shea butter.

Unrefined shea butter naturally contains small portions of latex.  Individuals with both a Type B Latex allergy and a nut allergy can have a reaction to shea butter. As with many other natural products, natural rubber latex contains proteins to which some individuals may develop an allergy.

Koni Hawaiian, LLC is not responsible for any individual reaction to any particular ingredient. Shea butter is not recommended for people with nut or latex allergies. Even though the percentages are low, it is still better to be cautious. Sometimes the proteins in the natural products could also be the cause a rash. Each product includes a complete list of ingredients on the website and on the label. Anyone with skin allergies to any listed ingredients should not use the product. In case you are in doubt always try an allergy patch test and if at any time irritation occurs, discontinue use.

Information provided is of a general and traditional nature and is not intended as medical advice for any individual. No standard of care is stated or implied on this site. Please consult a nutritionist or organic skin care specialist. All our products are tested on friends and family with excellent results.
