WHIPPED COCONUT SHEA BUTTER CREAM CARE:
If you live in a warm, humid climate, make sure you keep your coconut shea butter cream in a cool, dry place. The coconut shea butter cream is solid at room temperature but will melt in heat, place in a cooler environment to firm up. Or you could leave it in the melted state, it glides on easier. Personally, I like it a little melted, it will spread on like warm butter after a bath or shower, which is really the proper way to moisturize.

Once the cream goes through extreme hot and cold temperatures, it may become grainy. Like most things that are natural, they are reacting to their environment. The only way to keep shea butter or coconut oil stable is by introducing some kind of additive and that really defeats the purpose of being all natural. It will still melt on contact with skin even when the texture has changed. The cream has a long shelf life due to the high content of the antioxidant vitamin E found in both the unrefined shea butter and coconut oil.

APPLICATION:
As with any new skin product you should always do a Patch Test even for products that are all natural. Apply a very, very small amount of coconut shea butter (about the size of a pea will cover most of one arm) by dabbing small amounts on different areas of your skin. I have found that massaging the cream into your skin works best. After a few uses you will be able to gauge how much to use.

For Surfers Rash:
Saltwater really dries out and irritates the skin. After surfing or any watersport take your wetsuit/rash guard off as soon as possible, leaving a damp wetsuit on for hours can irritate the skin and sand in your suit acts like sandpaper rubbing against your skin. The natural vitamins and minerals in the coconut shea butter nourishes and protects the skin. It is more practical for a surfer's needs than a moisturizing cream with shea extract because it works better and helps prevent flaking and rashes.

For hair frizzes you can apply a small amount to tame da beastly hair.

PATCH TEST:
Place a small amount of Coconut Shea Butter on the inside of your wrist or arm and watch over the next 24 hours. Sometimes, your skin is fine with a new product the first few times when used but then your skin gets red or irritated later on. Stop using the product whenever redness or irritation occurs.

ALLERGEN: NUT / LATEX
Allergies vary with individuals and may affect people with varying degrees. Allergies may develop mildly at first, with increasing severity over time, or they may appear suddenly. It is important to remember, when using natural body products, that some people may have allergies to even natural ingredients. Oils derived from nuts, for example, are found in many natural skincare products; people with nut allergies should use caution. There have been no medical reports of nut reactions to shea butter.

Unrefined shea butter naturally contains small portions of latex.  Individuals with both a Type B Latex allergy and a nut allergy can have a reaction to shea butter. As with many other natural products, natural rubber latex contains proteins to which some individuals may develop an allergy.

Koni Hawaiian, LLC is not responsible for any individual reaction to any particular ingredient. Each product includes a complete list of ingredients on the website and on the label. Anyone with skin allergies to any listed ingredients should not use the product. In case you are in doubt always try an allergy patch test and if at any time irritation occurs, discontinue use.

Information provided is of a general and traditional nature and is not intended as medical advice for any individual. No standard of care is stated or implied on this site.
